75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee
Saint Rose of Lima Catholic School celebrated 75 years of Catholic education on Saturday, September 19, 2015. Despite two days of set up in the rain, we were blessed with a beautiful day for our big event. We welcomed over 750 current families, alumni, former faculty, and friends!
We opened the evening with a prayer service led by former faculty member, Sister Rita Wollschlager, SSND in the Rosary Garden, and a Jubilee Mass concelebrated by Bishop Cozzens and Father Devorak. After Mass, we enjoyed a delicious meal, fellowship, live music, school tours, and a walk down memory lane in the school gym. Check our our Photo booth pictures here.
We owe our thanks to the MANY adult, alumni, and student volunteers who contributed to the overwhelming success of the Jubilee, but most of all, to Mrs. Tammy Thompson who orchestrated the entire evening. We extend our love, gratitude, and sheer admiration to Tammy! Organizing such an event is a Herculean task, and Tammy did so with grace, fueled by her love for and commitment to Saint Rose of Lima Catholic School. 75th Diamond Jubilee Update – December 2015
During this holiday season, we would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your financial support of Saint Rose of Lima Catholic School. Our 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee fundraising goal is $75,000. We are very pleased to share that we are currently at $71,000! We continue to be blessed by the support of our Saint Rose community and beyond. The purpose for our Jubilee Fund remains steadfast. Monies raised will be used to enhance curriculum, bring additional technology into the classrooms to support and enhance the learning experience, and provide professional development opportunities for our teachers.
Thanks to your generosity, we are working on several objectives in these areas, including our recent purchase of a mobile technology charging station and 20 Chromebooks that will be shared by students within the school. Additionally, a new server has been brought in to help us meet the demands of this new equipment. While our technology funding continues to flow from the 75th Jubilee Fund, we have also applied for a grant to help us defray some of the administrative and structural costs that go along with this. We are proud of our achievements, but have yet to attain our goal.
If you or someone you know would like to contribute to our efforts, you may donate online (see the Support section below), mail your donation to the school, or personally deliver it to our school or parish center office. If you have questions or would like to discuss donation opportunities, we also invite you to contact our school principal, Mr. Mark Blomgren, at 651.646.3832. We sincerely appreciate your ongoing support as we work together to continue the wonderful tradition that is Saint Rose of Lima Catholic School. We are Saint Rose Strong!

A note from Tammy Thompson, Event Organizer
When I was asked last December if I would consider leading the 75th Anniversary celebration for our school, I could have never imagined it would be such an amazing experience. The amount of time this ‘project’ took away from my family and my work over the past nine months is overwhelming, but what I experienced on Saturday made me truly understand what all the hard work was about. The smiles, hugs, laughter, and countless stories shared by alumni of all ages warmed my heart.
On Saturday evening, we welcomed over 750 guests to the Jubilee and served over 700 meals! Now, that is some kind of celebration! Our Jubilee brought people together. Current school students and families, alumni, parents, grandparents, relatives, parishioners—from both Saint Rose and Corpus Christi, and friends of Saint Rose and beyond came together to show who we are. We are community! We are strong! We are Saint Rose!
To say that I am proud to have led the 75th Jubilee, is saying it lightly. I lost count of the total number of volunteers, but it was well over 165. The teamwork, energy, and Saint Rose School spirit could not have been stronger. When you need to start turning away volunteers, you know you have something pretty special. It is next to impossible to thank every single person who helped with the Jubilee, but there were many people who were at my side keeping me organized, keeping me sane, keeping me laughing, and keeping me determined. You were my back bone. You were my support through and through. Thank you!
Things are now back to “business as usual,” but I can proudly say that our school and our Saint Rose community will never be quite the same. We came together to celebrate our history and look forward to our future in high style. Our faith and passion for who we are is stronger than it has ever been. We are Saint Rose strong!
