Dear parishioners of Saint Rose,
All of us have special places in our lives that give us rest – a cabin up north, a best friend’s home, a favorite pub, grandma’s place, an old college hangout, a pretty park. During the pandemic, when so many of us were forced to stay inside, many found themselves longing to go somewhere else and get away from either the isolation of being alone at home or the hecticness of having everyone at home all the time. In many ways, we have been rediscovering how to find rest in the midst of turmoil.
At Saint Rose, we have a special place of rest, open to everyone, where the “peace of God that surpasses all understanding” can be found (Phil 4:7). It’s our Chapel of Perpetual Adoration, where for 30 years people of all ages have rested in the presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar. Pope Francis wrote that Eucharistic Adoration is deeply connected with our call to be missionary disciples:
“Without prolonged moments of adoration, of prayerful encounter with the Word, of sincere conversation with the Lord, our work easily becomes meaningless; we lose energy as a result of weariness and difficulties, and our fervour dies out. The Church urgently needs the deep breath of prayer, and to my immense joy groups are growing who are devoted to prayer, intercession, the prayerful reading of the Word of God, and the perpetual adoration of the Eucharist.” (The Joy of the Gospel, 262).
In a few weeks, our Chapel of Perpetual Adoration will be undergoing a renovation to enhance the space into a Spanish mission style chapel – refreshing all the carpeting, seating, and lighting; providing more space to fit up to 33 people; and enabling occasional Masses for smaller liturgies like a funeral, a youth ministry event, or a staff convocation. Below you will find some renderings of the future chapel. When finished, it will be a magnificent shrine where all can come day or night and find rest with our Lord through his humble Eucharistic presence. I am excited to work with Nick Vasko, our designer, and our parishioners and staff on this project.
The Capital Campaign has already raised much of the funding for this project, but we have a little bit further to go to finish out the Chapel renovation. If you are a parishioner, you know that I already asked for financial help with our Bridge the Gap Fund in August – but I am not at all hesitant to beg again for the Lord’s house. I am entirely confident that the chapel is of utmost importance as a spiritual heartbeat for our community. In fact, I felt that the Holy Spirit confirmed this a few weeks ago for me when I met a man praying in our Rosary Garden (our chapel was temporarily closed because of the pandemic). He told me he was of the Lutheran faith but has been praying in our chapel for years. What a delightful surprise when the first donation for the chapel renovation arrived in the mail the following week – not from a parishioner but from our Lutheran neighbor!
If you would like to make a gift of any amount to the renovation project, please contact Ruth Gangl in our office at 651-357-1206 or [email protected]. You can also click here or the banner above for a more comprehensive description of the project. Please pray for the quick opening of the chapel, and don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions!
In the love of Christ,
Father Marc Paveglio, Pastor
