Funeral Lunch Ministry
At a Funeral liturgy, the church celebrates the life of the individual and the hope of the resurrection. At the Funeral luncheon, this celebration of life on earth and hope of life eternal continues when families gather to share a meal. By supplying volunteers to set up, serve and clean up the luncheon, the church creates time and space for grieving families to encounter one another in their grief. This fellowship reminds them of the church’s belief “that all the ties of friendship and affection which knit us as one throughout our lives do not unravel with death” (Order of Christian Funerals). At Saint Rose of Lima, we have three volunteer teams that take turns serving our Funeral Lunches. The meal is provided by a caterer chosen in advance by the grieving family. If interested in volunteering or learning more, please call (651) 357-1202.
Funeral Volunteers
