Servant of God Nicholas Black ElkJoin us this summer on our parish’s pilgrimage to South Dakota, the homeland ofWhat: A four day pilgrimage to encounter the life and witness of Nicholas Black Elk, a revered Catholic teacher and Lakota leader who is being considered for canonization as a Catholic Saint.
When: August 15-18, 2025
Where: Rapid City, Black Hills National Forest, and Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota.
Who: Open to all parishioners* of Saint Rose of Lima, including single adults, couples, and families of all ages. All youth under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
*Beginning June 1st, if space allows, registration will be open to people beyond the parish community.
Friday, August 15-Depart Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Roseville, MN-Stop for Mass (Assumption of Mary, Holy Day of Obligation) and Lunch-Arrive in Rapid City-Dinner and Evening SocialSaturday, August 16-Hike the Black Elk Wilderness and Summit Black Elk Peak (7 mile round trip, difficult hike going up, moderate hike coming down.Sunday, August 17
OR
-Visit Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, and Indian Museum of North America.
-Optional Evening Activities in Rapid City (TBD)-Participate in Nicholas Black Elk Memorial Mass.-Visit Nicholas Black Elk's burial site for veneration.-Learn about Nicholas' life and the Lakota people from local representatives.-Participate in events and activities being put on by local parishes and The Diocese of Rapid City in honor of the memorial of Nicholas Black Elk.-Optional Evening Activities in Rapid City (TBD)Monday, August 17-Depart from Rapid CityCost:

-Arrive back to Saint Rose of Lima, Roseville MN.

-2 Queen Beds, up to 4 people (Families of 5+ contact Rob to discuss price friendly options)
-Includes 6 meals (Friday Dinner, Saturday Breakfast and Lunch, Sunday Breakfast and Lunch, Monday Breakfast).
-Pool, Fitness Center, and on-site restaurant
Plans for off-setting bus costs for families and other attendees with multiple people in their group are in the works.
Funds will be distributed according to need. It is our hope to make this pilgrimage as accessible as possible to all people of Saint Rose. Please contact Rob to discuss cost saving options in detail.
$100 Deposit due at time of registration.
Final Payment due Monday, July 14.
Registration will open Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
