"A network of friends, inspired by Gospel values, growing in holiness and building a more just world through personal relationships with and service to people in need.”
Vincentians are keenly aware that poverty, suffering and loneliness are present in our community. We seek to not only serve our brothers and sisters in need through personal relationships but to also become witnesses to the spiritual transformation of our friends and brothers and sisters in need.
Organized locally, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul St. Rose Conference, offers tangible assistance to those in need on a person-to-person basis. This aid may take the form of intervention, consultation, or often through direct dollar or in-kind service. An essential precept of the Society’s work is to provide charitable assistance while conscientiously maintaining the confidentiality and dignity of those who are served.
Experiencing the Face of Christ in all individuals that the Vincentians encounter makes the work of the Society unique. Our principal mission is to grow in holiness through the theological virtue of charity. The theological virtues (faith, hope and charity) are pure gifts from God, infused directly into our souls from Baptism. Once we receive them, we can grow in these virtues through our actions. Thus, our Catholic faith inspires us to action, sustains our commitment, and challenges us to become more like Christ. The Society differs from philanthropic associations or agencies whose principal objective is not the spiritual advancement of their members but the doing of good for someone else.
